Prevention
The
Douglas County Health Department is a member of the Metro Omaha Tobacco
Action Coalition (MOTAC) whose mission is to promote a smoke-free community.
As part of a comprehensive community-wide tobacco prevention program,
we partner with schools, public and private health organizations, and
faith communities to educate the community of the dangers of secondhand
smoke and prevent youth tobacco use. activities include assisting businesses
in the development of smoke-free policies, supplying educational materials
to businesses, faith communities, community-based organizations, childcare
centers, and families on tobacco related issues. We also assist in the
development of grassroots efforts to eliminate environmental tobacco smoke.
